Tawanda  holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science and Technology and is currently studying for a Master of Science Degree in Agribusiness and has vast knowledge and experience working as a rural transformation and participatory development practitioner. Having worked for 2 years as a Quality Auditor and Out-grower Extension Support Manager for Shona Products; which was, until the land reform exercise, one of the largest Horticultural Export Company based in Macheke, Zimbabwe; he has developed a participatory rural out-grower model/scheme to facilitate the inclusion of the rural communal farmers in Macheke in the Shona Products’ export value chain through input, farming extension, business mentorship, and marketing support services.

This experience and more than 10 years of working, first as a Food Security Officer, two years later as a Project Manager for Rural Livelihoods & Food Security Projects, and three years later upto date as Programme Manager Research and Advocacy for Zimbabwe Community Development Trust (ZCDT) has seen him advocating and developing project models that seek to advance participatory social and economic inclusion of the rural marginalized communities in Zimbabwe.
